Description

The national monument Eindhoven railway station is known as De Transistor. To accommodate the future number of passengers of 115,000 per day in 2020, it has been thoroughly renovated and partly restored to its former glory. Capacity has been doubled by the spacious, 13-metre-wide passenger passage. The 'old' tunnel from 1956 has been restored and connected to the new passage with passageways. The old tunnel is given the new function of waiting and meeting area. After the construction of the new travellers' tunnel under the railway lines and the refurbishment of the old passage including an artwork by Daan Roosegaarde, the restoration of the monument at Stationsplein is the final piece of the thorough renovation.
