The Lely Group is an international manufacturer of leading innovations for the agricultural sector, operating in 60 countries. Its more than 1,600 employees are engaged in the production and development of various agricultural vehicles and advanced feeding and milking systems. http://www.lely.com/nl/home

In April, construction work started on the new international headquarters (Main contractor: Dura Vermeer) in Maassluis. The new headquarters is set to become the most sustainable industrial building in Europe. The master plan for the site was developed by Rotterdam-based architectural firm ConsortArchitects. They are also in charge of construction management. The total building sum is over 40 million euros.

BREEAM
The sustainability of the new business complex will be far above average. Lely is aiming for a very high BREEAM score; 'Excellent' for the office and 'Outstanding' for the production hall. In Europe, the 'Outstanding' score has never before been awarded to a building with an industrial function.
BREEAM is an international, integrated assessment method for sustainability, based on energy, ecology, transport, materials, water consumption and employee health, among others. Among other things, working methods, materials, installations and maintenance are weighed in the certification. Here, the Dutch variant of BREEAM was used as a guideline: BREEAM-NL. The design certificates for BREEAM-Outstanding (factory hall) and BREEAM-Excellent (office part) have already been obtained. Work is currently underway on construction in order to also obtain the final BREEAM-NL certificates.

After the reception at the current location (Weverskade 60, Maassluis), there will be a presentation on the sustainable aspects of the new building. After this, we will walk to the construction site.
