Description

The former Shell offices on Oostduinlaan in The Hague were designed by H.E. Oud, son of J.J.P. Oud. The 1968 complex is located on the edge of the Oostduin-Arendsdorp estate and consists of a substantial high-rise volume with a lower building block directly perpendicular to it. In line with the current trend of redevelopment, the building will undergo a transformation into an apartment complex in the near future.
Existing features such as the intricate construction structure will be used as much as possible. The fullest possible reuse of the existing qualities ensures that a maximum of possibilities can be efficiently and effectively realised with a minimum of interventions, while the characteristic nature of the complex remains respected.
The terrain will also undergo a careful upgrading. To replace the current car park, which offers an unpleasant view, a covered parking layer will be realised with landscaped greenery on top, creating a strong sense of 'living in the park'.
