Theme 'More Resilient through Technology'

Theme
Due to geopolitical developments, our society is facing various hybrid threats and social unrest. We even have to start reckoning with military conflict. Military capabilities can support society to become more resilient. Conversely, a resilient society can support Defence if there is a military conflict. Technology also plays an important role here.

During the Kooy symposium 2025, we will discuss the need for resilience and technological developments to face the various threats. These include smart sensors to monitor and secure vital infrastructure, autonomous systems to take over tasks from people, quantum technology to protect sensitive (civilian and military) data and laser systems to eliminate 'unwanted' drones.

Speakers
In the 'Setting the Scene' block, MP Derk Boswijk (CDA), director MIVD SBN Peter Reesink and Joris Rijbroek, Institute for Societal resilience (VU, Amsterdam) will speak.

After lunch, various speakers will give attention to policies of Defence and other organisations in the 'Policy and Vision' block, followed by technological concepts in block 3: 'Solutions'.

Practical
The symposium will take place on Wednesday 16 April 2025 from 10:00 in the auditorium of the General-Major Koot barracks in Stroe. The language of communication during the conference will be Dutch. The most up-to-date programme and practical information can be found at programme.kooysymposium.nl.

Sponsorship and exhibition
Although we organise the Kooy symposium on a non-profit basis with volunteers, we do incur costs for catering, among other things. We therefore invite companies to sponsor the symposium.
This can be done once with a small stand for €750, or structurally with name entry in the programme for €650 per year (excluding VAT).

Cost
Due to ever-increasing numbers of participants and rising catering costs, we unfortunately can no longer organise the symposium completely free of charge. Therefore, this time we ask a contribution of € 15 for the lunch and coffee buffets and optionally € 15 for the Indonesian buffet afterwards.
Students have free entrance on presentation of their student card and pay a reduced price for the Indonesian buffet.
