The current generation of engineering students is the first to start working within the new defence domain Space. This will by no means include only the technical aspects. On the contrary. This new field of work will require engineers to link political, operational and technical aspects.

What this (roughly) looks like, you can experience as a (prospective) student or 'Young Engineer' in the online Wargame Space organised by the 'Defence & Security' department of KIVI on 28 October 2020.

How does it work
In groups (each at their own location), engineering students and young engineers play against each other to solve a conflict situation in space. Each group represents a virtual country and will face technical as well as political and strategic decisions during the game. For this, each country is given different capabilities that can be used but also lost. What does the opponent do, what capabilities does he have at his disposal?

Programme
The day will be opened at 10 a.m. by the Royal Air Force with an explanation of the new domain 'Space' and the role the different Armed Forces units play in it. Teams will then be divided up to deliberate in separate virtual rooms. In a few practice rounds, the different capabilities are explained and played after which the game is started and the teams will alternate between fighting and deliberating in different time blocks.

Drinks afterwards! -HOW?
After the conclusion of the game, an analysis of the results and the announcement of the winner (who of course receives a prize!), the day will be concluded around 15:00. In the process, we will provide a 'real' fortification of the inner man delivered on location.
