PREPARATION REACTION TO THE NOTA "IN THE INTEREST OF THE NETHERLANDS"
Defence has in the past period developed a new vision of the future, in which strategic choices have been made that are of great importance for the future of the armed forces. The paper "In the interest of the Netherlands" was presented on Budget Day. The Lower House will take decisions on this paper in the autumn of 2013.
KIVI NIRIA's Defence and Security Department wants to contribute to opinion formation on the paper from an "engineering perspective". We want to interpret the consequences and thus help influence the debate on the consequences of the future vision in the field of engineering (the engineering domain).
What consequences do these plans have for the development of new technology, investments, management of projects, logistics, maintenance of equipment, the innovative strength of the Netherlands, Dutch scientific knowledge, European cooperation and the engineering profession.
The result of the evening will be processed into a response which we will publish as widely as possible and send to, among others, the Minister of Defence and the members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence.
PREPARATION FOR THE DISCUSSION

What is good and what should be different.
KIVI NIRIA is about engineering. It is therefore about consequences for engineering, logistics, systems and scientific knowledge. About content and organisation of research, development, acquisition, maintenance and disposal. Also in a European context. Not about operational deployment, personnel consequences or your own position. General positions, such as "more money must go to Defence", the chamber is not going to take from us either. Be concrete, clear and specific.
FORMAT OF YOUR CONTRIBUTION
A title or statement of no more than 15 words accompanied by an explanation of no more than 200 words. We ask for a reference to text in the paper. Multiple statements per person are of course possible.
MAY BE ANONY
Preferably not, but it is allowed. The board does want to know who you are. Among other things, to consult with you on explaining your views during the discussion evening.
OPTION OF THE MEETING
There will be no introductions and no explanations about the future vision: your opinion counts!
The board will select about 10 propositions in advance. We ask the proposer to explain this proposition in two minutes, followed by 8 minutes of discussion.
Afterwards, you can indicate which proposition you agree or disagree with, and also which proposition you think is most important
