Description

The KIM alumni association is organising its prestigious annual "Johan de Witt" lecture on 14 November 2013.
This year on the theme: East Meets West ... or East Beats West?

Exclusively for members of the Defence and Security Department, 10 places are available to attend this lecture and dinner. You can register until 10 November

Directly or indirectly, we are all facing major international shifts of capital, labour and innovation that are taking place in apparent silence. Studies indicate that by 2040, China will have surpassed the United States in terms of economic power. Does the same apply to its military power? How does one look at this from an academic, political, economic and military maritime perspective?

This year's Johan de Witt Lecture has three themes. First, it will delve deeper into China's ambitions in a multipolar world. Secondly, speakers will discuss the implications of this power shift for Europe and in particular for the Netherlands. Finally, true to the main objective of KIM AV, the ways in which the influence of governance and leadership is reflected in this will be explored. These themes will be developed along four lines by moderator Jeroen de Jonge MSc. (TNO).
