Description

The future of the Netherlands' foreign, security and defence policy
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rutte-II government has the ambition to put the Netherlands back on the international map, but it has to do so under an unhappy financial constellation. For instance, Foreign Affairs is going to reduce the postal network, Development Cooperation is cutting one billion euros and Defence is undergoing a new financial drain of 250 million
euros. Meanwhile, the Netherlands is no longer invited to the G-20 and will have to share its seat at the IMF with Belgium on a rotational basis.

Against this background, the NGIZ, in cooperation with the Institute
'Clingendael', is organising a topicality seminar on the theme "The future of Dutch foreign, security and defence policy."

Participants will be welcomed with coffee from 13:30 and drinks will be served after the meeting.

Speaker(s)

This afternoon's speakers are:
-Mathieu Segers (Utrecht University - Foreign Policy);
-Dick Zandee (Clingendael Institute - Security and Defence Policy);
-Paul Hoebink (Radboud University - Development Cooperation).
-René Cuperus (Wiarda Beckman Foundation) will provide critical commentary on these introductions before the plenary discussion.
