The Politics and DV Engineering working group analyses current political developments in the defence sector. It provides independent facts and interpretation from the technological knowledge and experience of engineers.
The working group has written an extensive commentary on MP Salima Belhaj's own-initiative memorandum. These include reactions to the Minister of Defence's responses to this note and to the review of the Defence Operational Energy Strategy.
Key elements of the comments include:
- Should Defence be trend follower or trend setter in the energy transition?
- What are the specific implications of the energy transition for defence equipment?
- How can the energy transition be financed for Defence?
- Which organisations should Defence work with to be effective in the energy transition?
