The Defence and Security Department's Politics and Engineering Working Group analyses current political developments in the defence sector. It provides independent facts and interpretation from the technological knowledge and experience of engineers.

On 2 November 2022, the government published the Defence Industry Strategy in a New Geopolitical Context and the Innovation and Research Implementation Agenda.

Our Politics and Defence Engineering Working Group presented questions on both documents to the Standing Committee on Defence in the House of Representatives.
Through these links, you will find the questions on the Defence Industry Strategy and the Innovation and Research Implementation Agenda.

The main points are: (1) better procurement procedures for innovation and SMEs, (2) methods to scale up faster in a crisis, (3) more effective financing and (4) a plea that Dutch industry can do more than just supply foreign companies.
