The "Politics and DV Technology" working group analyses and comments on current political developments in the defence sector from a technological perspective.

Recently, the working group compiled questions and comments on the "DMP up to date" report and the cabinet's position regarding the Interdepartmental Policy Survey (IBO) Weapon Systems. These comments have been presented to, among others, the members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence in support of the handling of these topics on 17 February and 2 March next.

In general terms, the working group believes that both reports show an enhanced degree of bureaucracy and a reduced degree of flexibility. This is at odds with the need to respond to increasingly rapid technological developments and the desire for international cooperation. Nor are opportunities for international cooperation in OCCAR or EDA contexts and alternative forms of funding found in the documents.
