EDTA and Eurodefense study on SME participation in the defence industry with the aim of recommendations for the European Union and national Authorities
Our association is a member of the Federation of European Defence Technology Associations (EDTA). This federation and the Eurodefense network are conducting a study on the level of SME participation in the defence sector of the European Union. With involves participation in innovation and across national borders. SME participation is important for the future of European defence and security, to unlock innovative strength and to stay ahead of future threats. European Union policies already address this issue, but SME participation in the defence industry still lags behind other sectors of the economy. In particular, cross-border SME participation is almost non-existent.
The aim of the study is to draw up recommendations for the European Union and national authorities. The study is being conducted by a 20-member working group in nine European Union member states.
To learn more about policy effectiveness and the experiences of SMEs, the working group is conducting a survey in the European Union's defence sector. The survey includes questions related to policy, contracts, rules, communication, investment and various other issues. Anyone active in the defence sector is invited to complete the survey.
The survey can be found on the EDTA site www.fedta.eu or via this direct link: http://survey14.fedta.eu. The survey contains 66 questions. Mainly multiple choice and a few open-ended questions. It takes about 30 minutes to complete.
Both EDTA and Eurodefense are non-profit associations, independent of governments, industry or any commercial organisation or cause. All work is done on a voluntary basis for the benefit of a better Europe.
