The NPT board would like to draw your attention to the Extrusion course on 15, 16 and 17 April, offered by the University of Twente's Polymer Centre.

As a production technique for plastic and rubber products, extrusion does provide important, yet somewhat boring products: pipes, sheet material, various profiles. However, in addition, extrusion fulfils an essential role in most other processing methods: in injection moulding, vacuum forming, blow-molding, film blowing, etc., the plastic melt is prepared by an extruder. More than 90% of all plastics pass through an extruder in the route from polymerisation reactor to product.

This makes extrusion the core of plastic processing. A good understanding of this process is therefore indispensable for anyone involved in the technical aspects of plastics processing or plastic product development.

This course provides in a short time a clear understanding of the physical background of extrusion, the variants of the process, and the problems that may arise in practice.

Due to the depth of the course, a technical or β - scientific background at academic or HBO level is desirable. Practical experience in polymer technology will make the course material offered more accessible to the student.
