Description

There is growing awareness in both the Netherlands and Germany that it is crucial for the future of the chemical industry to work on alternatives to fossil raw materials. The biobasedconomy encompasses the use of all types of biomass for the production of energy, materials, products for basic and specialty chemicals and other non-food applications. The challenge here is to develop business cases that offer meaningful alternatives both economically and in terms of sustainability.

Due to the good existing relations in the field of green chemistry between the Netherlands and the region, the mission to the federal states of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt offers opportunities for Dutch business. The region has a strong cluster with several multinationals, many SMEs and a number of leading research institutes such as the Helmholtz institute UFZ.
