Tata Steel
Description
Tata Steel is an Indian steel producer founded in 1907. Subsidiary Tata Steel Europe acquired Corus in IJmuiden in 2007. Corus was formed in 1999 from a merger of the Royal Dutch Hoogovens and Steelworks, founded in 1918, and British Steel. So the company in IJmuiden has now existed for almost 100 years.
Here, Tata Steel mainly produces steel and aluminium for many different applications. The focus is on developing new steel grades, energy-efficient production and reducing CO2 emissions. The Hisarna smelting cyclone process is one such example of new technology, drastically reducing CO2 emissions.
