3-5 December Chains 2018 - Chemistry for the Future Thomas Brouwer and Lisette Sprakel
Once again this year, all chemists from the Netherlands gathered in Veldhoven for a congress including plenary lectures by Bert Weckhuysen, Kevin Plaxco and Pieternel Levelt. An ideal opportunity for a process technologist to get in touch with the fundamental facets of chemistry. Topics ranged from biological processes, pharmacology, quantum chemistry and close-ups of catalyst particles to spectroscopic measurements of airborne pollution from space. Industry was well represented at this excellently organised event where there were ample networking opportunities. The congress included a wide variety of plenary lectures, keynote lectures, more than 450 posters, focus sessions, inspiration lectures, workshops and many other events, also organised by industry and science platforms. In addition, Pascal Jonkheim was honoured with the KNCV gold medal and Sponsh B.V. was voted the Golden Germ (Start-up of the year).
