AGM and presentation RijnGouwelijn
Description
Stations and the route of the light rail link are already being built on parts of the route. For the Leiden area, research and public consultation on the environmental effects of the various alternative routes is still ongoing in 2011.
On 21 April 2011, the coalition parties of the province of South Holland presented an outline agreement that was approved by the VVD, CDA, SP and D66 parties. A news report on this has just been published. The new provincial executive is expected to be installed on Wednesday 27 April.
The new provincial executive chooses to build the RijnGouwelijn and Rijnlandroute. For the RijnGouwelijn, a high-quality public transport connection from Gouda to the coast is maintained. For the eastern part of the route, it opts for an improved connection via existing railways. The western section from Leiden Central Station will be realised via a tramline. Based on these starting points, the new coalition wants to enter into consultations with all parties with whom administrative agreements have been entered into.
Project leader Mr Henk van der Meij gives us further insight into some components of this public transport facility.
