Description

The expected scarcity of fossil fuels, associated rising energy prices and the need to reduce CO2 emissions call for innovative, sustainable and energy-efficient solutions.

At horticultural company Vink Sion in Berlikum, Friesland, they have found the solution: In the middle of 7.5 hectares of greenhouse is a building measuring 20 by 30 metres and 11 metres high. In this building, sustainable energy is generated by a state-of-the-art and highly efficient biomass CHP plant that also extracts CO2 from flue gases and uses it in the greenhouse to stimulate crop growth. The first of its kind! Whereas conventional CHPs are natural gas-fired, this plant's energy source is prunings, a climate-neutral biofuel. Per year, the installation delivers 8000 hours of heat to the farm and electricity to the grid.

Imtech Vonk, together with HoSt, the supplier of the installation, cordially invites you to visit this unique project. This afternoon, a presentation will be given on this unique wood-fired CHP plant. This will be followed by a tour of the installation, after which drinks and snacks will be served.
