A JOINT CHALLENGE
For years, the Netherlands dangled at the bottom of European sustainability lists, but that is about to change. According to the Climate Accord, Dutch COâ emissions must be 49 per cent below 1990 levels within 12 years.
A huge task for all sectors, including the built environment. All homes will have to deal with the energy transition: natural gas as an energy carrier will inevitably make way for electricity generated as sustainably as possible.
This creates major challenges, but it also offers opportunities. Green municipalities will put themselves on the map, suppliers will get (new) market opportunities and customers will green their properties and save on (energy) costs.
Heat pumps will play an increasing role in this in the coming years. Slowly but surely, they will displace the central heating boiler from the market. Vakblad Warmtepompen and the Nederlands Platform Warmtepompen (NPW) are supporting this process, by jointly organising the Nederlands Warmtepomp Congres 2018. Read more
