Description

Meeting 4: "Do we live in a home or neighbourhood that generates its own electricity in 2050?"
A fossil-free, reliable EU-wide electricity supply in 2050.
Transition to a CO2-free and on a mix of largely renewable energy sources. The challenges and possible solutions. A series of 5 meetings.
The EU's challenging 2050 target for a low-CO2 energy system can be achieved partly through CO2-free electricity generation. The study - Power Roadmap 2050 - by European Climate Foundation (ECF) shows that this is possible while maintaining a reliable, stable electricity system. This fourth session discusses the importance of the changing electricity system at the home/neighbourhood level. Energy neutrality is an important contribution in the goal of low-fossil electricity generation. The neighbourhood structure, the need for smart matching of electricity demand and local generation, local storage, network building, are topics that play a key role in this and will be discussed in this meeting.
