Description

On Sunday 13 October 2013, the new solar car STELLA, designed by students from Eindhoven, won first prize in the 'cruiser' category of the famous race for solar cars in Australia: the Solar World Challenge. The car received extra bonus points because it often carried four people comfortably and simultaneously in the car.

Today, the team will present the car and explain some aspects of both its design and practice.
The design procedure and some of the electrical engineering aspects of the design will be covered in a few talks. Much attention will be given to simulations of systems and components of the car.
Furthermore, there will of course be stories about the race itself in Australia: what was the practice like, what broke down, what only just held up, what are the lessons from it?
A test drive will not be possible for everyone because of STELLA's fragility, but for some lucky ones it will be an experience.
