HFML Nijmegen
Description
The High Field Magnet Lab at Radboud University Nijmegen (HFML, (High Field Magnet Laboratory) has facilities for generating magnetic fields up to about 40 Tesla and conducting scientific experiments in these very high fields. Such a high magnetic field is impressive, considering that normal electromagnets generate fields of the order of 1 T.
KIVI NIRIA's Department of Technical Physics is organising an excursion to the HFML on Friday 2 March 2012 from 14:00 to 16:00. There will be a presentation on the technology required to obtain these extremely high magnetic field values and on typical experiments one can do in them. A tour of the facilities will then follow.
Participation in this excursion is limited to about 20 people, so please register quickly.
Participants are expected at 14:00 at the main entrance of the laboratory, Toernooiveld 7, 6525 ED Nijmegen. There is no participation fee for the excursion to HFML
