Description

Prior to the lecture, from 19.00 - 19.30, the annual General Members' Meeting will also take place, to which interested TME members are of course also warmly welcome.

The meeting will be introduced by Mr Ruud Cinno and Mr Bas Weenink of the Directorate for Environmental Quality of the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM).

The subsoil is becoming increasingly crowded. That is why VROM is working on a vision for the subsurface. With provinces, municipalities and water boards, the Soil Covenant is being concluded. A concrete project focusing on underground planning is the Structural Vision on Pipelines being prepared by VROM. An important question to be answered in the Structural Vision concerns the need and possibilities for laying new pipelines in the future, given the increasing space pressure in the Netherlands. The Structural Vision will answer this question for pipelines of national importance, such as the main transport pipelines for natural gas, the oil and chemicals pipelines connecting port and industrial areas, but also Defence pipelines and pipelines for the transport of CO2.
The Structural Vision will indicate where in the Netherlands space will be reserved for new pipelines of national importance (a national main structure for pipelines) and how the Cabinet intends to realise the safeguarding of this space (pipeline lanes).
In connection with the pipeline transport of CO2, the lectures will also deal with the technical aspects of underground storage of CO2, and the public debate that is currently taking place on the subject - for example, as a result of the pilot project for CO2 storage in the municipality of Barendrecht.

We would be delighted to welcome you to this evening. Registration is from 7.30 pm.
