Description

On 5 November next, the Rotterdam Citrus Auction will host the Geotechnical Day 2009. With the shearing of the railway embankment near Weesp in 1918, awareness began to grow that geotechnical engineering deserves attention in the realisation of infrastructural works. From 1934 onwards, geotechnical research was taken up structurally and since that time, much has been gained in the development of our field. Now, 75 years later, we see that from science, consultancy and construction, there have been pioneering innovations - in theory and in practice - that have given our field a mature appearance and the leading position in deltas around the world. With, of course, ever new drivers for research, from engineering and society.
The Geotechnology Day will focus on "Groundbreaking" developments in geotechnics, with a choice of presentations from the Netherlands and Belgium highlighting these. In addition, for the first time in the history of the Geotechnical Day, the "Keverling Buisman lecture" will be part of the programme.

This day is organised by KIVI NIRIA, Geotechnical Section and the TI-KVIV, Society, Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, in cooperation with CUR Bouw & Infra.
The Geotechnical Day is intended for contractors, the executive industry, design and engineering firms, specialised consulting firms and knowledge providers, soil mechanics consulting firms, government and students.

In addition to the lectures, there will be plenty of room in the programme to visit the companies' exhibition and meet colleagues.

In short, it will be a day with challenging innovative and interesting lectures, a fascinating exhibition and interesting contacts!
