New Hoog Catharijne
Description
In Utrecht, the station area and shopping centre Hoog Catharijne are being renovated. Part of this is the construction of new retail and residential space with a five-storey car park underneath. The parking garage is being built using the top-down method, using the clay layer at approx. 55m-NAP to seal off the cofferdam. A soil and water retaining wall consisting of cement-bentonite walls with suspended sheet piles will be installed on top of this. Large diameter bored piles are deepened in advance and fitted with the final prefabricated columns. After installation of the piles and the first floor, construction will proceed upwards and downwards. At the time of the excursion, part of the excavation and various foundation techniques will be in progress.
The location (BAM-keet) is close to Utrecht railway station and easily accessible by train (see map and directions via the links below).
Safety equipment:
As far as PPE is concerned, we have helmets and shoes here for approx. 20 people. An urgent appeal, therefore, for everyone to bring their own helmet/shoes where possible. For visitors, we have sufficient safety vests and goggles in the keet (both mandatory at NHC)
