Project visit: Strong IJssel Dykes in Krimpenerwaard (KIJK)

A joint venture between Boskalis and the VolkerWessels subsidiary Van Hattum en Blankevoort is reinforcing and raising a 10-kilometre section of the IJssel dyke on the south side of the Hollandsche IJssel between Krimpen aan den IJssel and Gouderak. Under challenging conditions, a 6.5 km hard embankment is being constructed here.

The afternoon begins with a boat trip along the IJssel dyke. This will be followed by presentations on the geotechnical design and the unique GIKEN equipment deployed here.

12.30–13.00 Meet at the cycle ferry in Oudekerk ad IJssel.
Parking at De Drie Maenen (5-minute walk)
1.00–2.30 pm Boat trip
2.30–3.00 pm Transfer to the KIJK office
