For the past two years, a team of specialists has been working on a thorough revision of the Foil Structures Handbook (2009). Ivo explains the new chapters and insights and provides a clear overview of the most important improvements and innovations in one go.
Ir. Maarten Profittlich MSc. (Fugro) & Alfred Roubos (Port of Rotterdam Authority)
Maarten is senior consultant, project leader and manager of geotechnical engineering at Fugro, specialising in foundations, risk management and pile load testing. Alfred is a port engineer at the Port of Rotterdam Authority and a researcher at TU Delft, with broad expertise in quay walls, jetties and dredging.

Since 2017, stricter calculation rules have applied to foundation piles, which resulted in longer foundations and 25% extra COโ emissions in the port of Rotterdam, with no practical problems. Within the INPAD research programme, large-scale tests were therefore carried out that not only saved millions in construction costs, but also 13 kilotonnes of COโ. The results are in line with an internationally developed design method and form the basis for the update of CUR2001-8. During the Geotechnical Day, Maarten and Alfred will present these new insights and their significance for the sector.
These presentations will be given in Dutch. More information and registration can be done via this page.
