Description

Croda Gouda, part of the global Croda International Plc group, is engaged in the manufacture of chemicals based on vegetable and animal fats. These find their application in cosmetics, lubricants, plastics and so on

Croda Gouda was founded in 1858 to meet the need for stearin candles. Candle making was taken an industrial approach with modern machinery and scientific control of raw materials and finished products. It was an integrated company, making not only candles but also the raw materials stearin (by splitting fats) and candle wicks itself. By also further utilising the by-products of stearin manufacture, an oleochemical company was created that experienced many interesting developments in the field of process technology.
