SUMMARY OF THE LECTURES

The Study Collection, which has been located in the low-rise basement of Mekelweg 4 since the Elektro building opened in November 1969, houses an extensive collection of electro-technical equipment of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EWI).

The collection comprises diverse subsets, objects in which electrical engineering has occupied such an important place in our lives. Developments in image and sound, calculators and typewriters, telephony, photography, high voltage, radar technology, navigation systems, measurement and control equipment, electron tubes, switching clocks and computers to name but a few. On the one hand, a main task is to preserve cultural heritage in the field of electrical engineering; on the other, a main task is to make the Study Collection a tangible source of inspiration for contemporary students.

The lectures will cover the Electrical Study Collection, switching clocks and computers.
