Members wishing to attend this event are most welcome!
Dear members of GDT,
Some time ago we informed you that the jury has awarded the Willem Wolff Prize 2021 to the Dutch Steam Engine Museum in Medemblik. With the amount awarded, it will be possible to create a sophisticated presentation in which the complex start-up and maintenance of a steam engine is recorded in such a way that the knowledge present in the museum can be transferred to a next generation of employees who do not yet have 'hands-on' experience with this type of machinery themselves. In this way, the knowledge present in the steam engine museum can be safeguarded.
The award ceremony will take place at the museum itself. Apart from the award ceremony, the programme will consist of an explanation and demonstration of how the knowledge can be secured. There will also be a guided tour of the museum, which will then be 'up to speed' and thus extra interesting to visit. A simple lunch will be provided and afterwards, weather permitting, a short walk through Medemblik may be taken. After all, for most of us, Medemblik is still terra incognita.
The programme will start at 11:30 and end at 16:00 at the latest.
Members wishing to attend this event are cordially invited and you can bring a guest.
However, due to the organisation, it is necessary that you register for this. In principle, you can come on your own but you can also indicate that you would prefer to use joint transport. If there is sufficient interest, we will organise this. You should then expect a contribution in the order of 35€ pp. You can indicate this when you register.
