"Gasopslag Bergermeer" by Taqa Energy in Alkmaar
TAQA Energy, together with partner EBN, is realising Gasopslag Bergermeer near Alkmaar. The underground storage of natural gas is needed to ensure a stable and guaranteed availability of sufficient natural gas in all seasons in the coming decades. Gas storage Bergermeer will be the largest freely accessible gas storage in Europe, with a working volume of 4.1 billion cubic metres of natural gas: about 10 per cent of the Netherlands' annual total gas consumption, and enough to meet the annual consumption of 2.5 million households.
The installations are nearing completion and the excursion includes a visit to the Bergermeer drilling site and the information centre next to the Boekelermeer gas treatment plant.
TAQA Energy is realising with its partner EBN the gas storage project Bergermeer near the town of Alkmaar in North Holland. Underground gas storage is necessary to guarantee a stable supply of natural gas throughout the seasons for the coming decades. Gas Storage Bergermeer will be the largest freely accessible gas storage site of Europe, with a working volume of 4.1 bln m3 of natural gas. This equals roughly 10 percents of the annual total domestic gas use of the Netherlands and is sufficient to cover the annual consumption of 2.5 mln Dutch households.
The installation of all equipment has almost been completed. This excursion will take you to the drilling location Bergermeer and the information centre of the gas treatment plant at Boekelermeer
There are 40 places available for this excursion. Register via the KIVI website. When registering, please state the number of your proof of identity (passport, identity card or driving licence) and carry your proof of identity with you. Participants will receive additional information about the route and assembly point in due course. At the drilling site, visitors must wear protective clothing. Taqa will provide overalls, safety shoes, goggles, helmets and gloves. Please state your shoe and clothing size.
This excursion can accommodate 40 people. You can register via the KIVI website. During registration, please make sure to add your ID number (passport, identity card or driving license). You will have to also take the ID with you and you can be asked to present it at arrival on the site. Participants will receive closer to date more information on travel directions to the assembly point (the information centre Boekelermeer). At the site you will have to wear obligatory personal protective equipment. TAQA kindly provides coveralls, safety shoes, glasses, hardhats and gloves. Please specify with your registration your shoe and coverall size.
