Oil&Gas sector
Description
The oil and gas sector in the Netherlands needs well-trained engineers. Currently, fortunately, the number of engineering students is rising, both Dutch students and foreign talent. It is important that this group of new entrants can be smoothly absorbed into the sector.
To this end, the board of KIVI's Oil & Gas Technology department has mapped out the supply and demand for engineers by means of a questionnaire, which was submitted to its supporters.
In this questionnaire, attention is paid on the one hand to "hard numbers", showing what the demand for engineers will be in the coming years. It also focuses on what well-educated engineers need to know and be able to do to be well prepared for their move into the oil & gas sector.
It also reveals any bottlenecks that make it difficult for people to enter the sector efficiently.
The data collected from the interviews have been compiled into a report that we plan to present and hand out to interested parties in the Oil&Gas sector during a KIVI workshop on 9 September 2015.
