Process safety: how to avoid catastrophic events in the oil and gas industry?
The BP Macondo well blowout, the catastrophic fire at Chemiepack in Moerdijk and the oil spill from a flowline in Shell's Gannet field in the North Sea: serious Process Safety incidents still regularly make world news. They keep reminding the industry of a continued need to improve performance.
What can be done to avoid these catastrophic events from happening? Shell has made Asset Integrity Process Safety Management an integral part of its global safety policy. In his role as global Shell Group Process Safety manager, Paul Buijsingh will share initiatives that Shell took to improve performance.
