NAP: Stichting Nederlandse Apparaten en Procesindustrie

NAP is the Dutch platform of the total chain of companies and institutes with activities in the field of realising, operating and optimising installations for the process industry. On 12 September, NAP press-ganged its "Code of Conduct Procesveiligheid" to promote process safety in the Dutch process industry. This Code of Conduct was developed at the request of the NAP board and programme council, by the NAP Production Assets team. As a competence network, NAP would like to actively contribute ideas and provide a lead to get Asset Integrity and Process Safety as high on the agenda as personal safety.

Why this Code of Conduct Process Safety?

Following various serious incidents in the Netherlands in which the technical integrity and process safety of process and storage installations was at stake, NAP, partly at the request of DCMR, has put this topic on the agenda to consider how we as a process industry chain can contribute to keeping our Production Assets safe and vital.

After all, the social profile of the Dutch process industry is largely determined by the risk management the industry imposes on itself, together with its industrial partners and government bodies. It is therefore very important that all stakeholders, in technical and non-technical roles, are aware of their personal duty of care to society.

To this end, the NAP Foundation has drawn up a code of conduct that can be signed on a voluntary basis and in a personal capacity. The NAP Foundation encourages everyone involved in the Dutch process industry to comply with this code of conduct.

Why is KIVI Hydrocarbon Technologies & Energy Transition referring to this?

In the NAP Code of Conduct Process Safety, personal responsibilities and desired ethical behaviour, regarding process safety and technical integrity of process installations, are written out for the various roles/functions. It may be very useful for you, working in the Oil and Gas industry, to take note of this and consider signing this Code of Conduct in your personal capacity. We also encourage you to discuss this Code of Conduct with your colleagues, executives and business associates and ask them to also sign this Code of Conduct.
