What approach, role and tools does a designer have to actually make an impact? Due to public opinion and legislation, brands and clients realise that 'business as usual' is no longer sufficient. As a designer, how do you want and can you take up your role in this and how do you take your client with you? Full LCA or CO2 footprint calculations are a long way off at the start of a project, so how do you focus the project on the right quantities? Fortunately, as designers we are trained to think in scenarios and visualise processes. Using a number of npk projects, partly in the fields of NEW ENERGY and SELF CARE, Herman van der Vegt will share approach and vision.

Herman studied Industrial Design, did an internship at - and is now co-owner of - npk. 'The diversity of our customers and users, the necessary/complex challenges and team cooperation are the highlights of this job for me.'
