'An industrial designer as design-consultant at a municipality'

Vera Winthagen (Design Academy Eindhoven, 2004) works as a 'strategic design consultant' at the municipality of Eindhoven to embed design thinking in the way of working of this government body. What does this involve? What are the successes? What are the pitfalls? In what way can the way of thinking and working of designers help with complex issues in the public sector?

Vera will highlight the approach taken and the results and give a glimpse into the future. Her thesis is that many more (public) bodies can benefit from having designers in-house, provided they are positioned centrally in the organisation.
