Description

What is the NOW?

During the weekend of 19-20-21 November, the 'National Design Weekend' will be organised by the study associations of the 3 university design programmes of the Netherlands. The organising study associations are: Lucid (ID, TU/e), S.G. Daedalus (IO, UT) and Studievereniging i.d (IO, TUD).

During this weekend, with the theme Radical Redesign, we will work in small groups on a case from industry. Because we don't want the other courses to miss out on this weekend, there is also room for HBO students. This gives you a very interesting mix of WO and HBO students.

The weekend will take place at the TU/e at the Faculty of Industrial Design, where you will arrive on Friday evening. The weekend then starts with the opening, the announcement of the design teams and an introductory activity.
On Saturday, work on the case will actually start. To avoid hanging over the design problem for ages, we will also organise workshops, lectures and leisure activities. On Sunday, you will continue working on the case and the final presentations will be held.

The aim of this weekend is for you, as a design student, to get to know students from different courses and to learn about the differences between them. Therefore, we make sure that all design teams have as many students from different programmes as possible.

After the final presentations, the professional jury will announce the winning teams.
Five to six different teams of five or six people each will work on the case. The jury member in charge of that specific case will choose a case winner and from all those case winners, the full jury will choose the winner.

In short; it will be a super fun weekend where you will learn a lot but especially enjoy a lot!
