Greenhouse horticulture is probably not the first sector a standard IO would expect to work in. Growing up in 'the Glass City' Westland and educated at TU Delft, Bart van Meurs did just that. The Netherlands is a leader in international high-tech agriculture and is often seen across the border as the 'Silicon Valley' of horticultural technology. As an independent product developer, Bart ensures that growers and suppliers maintain this leading position in a sustainable way thanks to innovative products. During the lecture, Bart will take us into the wonderful world 'under glass', past heat batteries, water-cooled LED lamps and insect-catching drones, and past geothermal heat drillings, UV Coatings and insulating soap bubbles.
