Description

An "inflatable" is a compact English name for inflatable objects.
Unfortunately, the image of inflatable objects is not particularly high.
People quickly associate them with balloons and children's play castles.
If you ask a little further, football fans know the inflatable men with waving arms and tennis fans know the inflatable halls. To the extent that there are any real campers left, they sometimes know about tents with inflatable ribs. And, oh yes, balls are inflatables as well as air tyres, air mattresses and inflatable boats.
Masses of inflatables are produced, but as a product category they rarely come up.

Tentech is an innovative consultancy specialising in lightweight structures. Its architects and Engineers specialise in membrane constructions, temporary structures, complex geometries and the use of distinctive materials.
In addition to using membranes, steel, wood and aluminium, Tentech is investigating the possibilities of cardboard, 3D printable synthetic materials and bamboo.
As an engineering consultancy, Tentech has been involved in several spectacular air-supported projects.

Arno Pronk has been working within Eindhoven University of Technology and KU Leuven for many years as a researcher in the field of flexible mould techniques. Inflatables are an essential part of this. The project that got him a lot of publicity in 2014 was an ice dome with a 30-metre span, in which an inflatable served as a 'mould'. Last winter in China, he built a 30.5-metre-high ice tower on an inflatable mould. As an independent designer, he realised many projects and collaborated with artists such as Jürgen Bey, Dre Wapenaar and Michiel Kluiters
