The perception of paper
Description
Paper has been discussed before in the context of packaging and sandwich panels, but never explicitly. The meeting will take place at one of the oldest paper mills in the Netherlands, Coldenhove Papier in Eerbeek.
The paper industry, and Coldenhove Papier in particular, is engaged in many innovative developments in which it would like to involve the creative industry. Paper is still associated with printing, packaging and disposibles, but is being incorporated into more and more sustainable products, Something that has been done in Japan since time immemorial.
Coldenhove Papier was founded in 1661, in the Gelderland town of Eerbeek on an estate of Willem the Third. It is a family business that has been around for more than three centuries and has become big in envelopes and folders, among other things. You would expect the company to be troubled by the information and communications industry as less mail is sent and stored. Yet this is not true. The company has been able to develop new products in line with the computerisation wave, for example by developing and supplying special paper for digitally printable sublimation transfer paper and decor paper.
The meeting will, of course, talk about the history of paper, but only with a view to the future. The aim is to exchange views on possible future developments with industrial designers and artists
