We regret to announce that the KIVI College 'Designing for The Ocean Cleanup, collaborating on the biggest cleanup ever' next Wednesday, 7 June, has been cancelled due to force majeure. The lecture has been postponed until further notice.

The problem of plastic waste in the oceans threatens nature on an unimaginable scale. This awareness has increased significantly worldwide in the last 10 years. The Ocean Cleanup with founder Boyan Slat is an organisation committed to cleaning up the oceans. The way they are doing this is nothing short of stunning. Proof that humans can tackle global environmental problems.

Spark is working with the Ocean Cleanup's rivers team to develop solutions that can capture plastic waste from rivers before it reaches the ocean. The goal? Tackling the thousand most polluting rivers.

What is needed for this complex challenge and what can an industrial designer contribute?
