Description

there will be another working weekend in two weeks' time. Hopefully with sunshine and pleasant temperatures. For this weekend, we have some great projects in the pipeline again. Of course, there is also some work to be done on the existing projects that we got pretty far with during the previous work weekend.

The WOT is going to have a toilet flushing system, for which we want to use the water in the new ferrocement tank in front of the site, which can be pumped into a barrel with a small windmill. This barrel is elevated and will provide the necessary water pressure and will be connected back to the toilet cistern. Some work has already been done to overhaul the intended windmill and new bearings have been ordered.

We want to install 4 to 5 large solar panels on the roof of the Kiwanda before the summer. If we can monitor this system and compare the output with the Virya ( electricity-generating windmill), for example, this can give an idea of how far we as WOT are from becoming self-sufficient in the workshop.

Furthermore, we also want to pay some attention to the Diever. We have long wanted to install a new pump and we also need to take a look at the stool at the top which regularly causes hideous noises that keep our neighbours awake. Perhaps we will take the stool down to see what needs to be done about it. We are also looking for the boom, to bring the tail down. This one has been missing for a while. If we cannot find it, we will weld a new one, there is still material for this. If we can work on the tail, we can attach the string to be able to turn the mill out of the wind

Last week we saw the first results of the sunlight system from the 3d printer, it still needs some fine tuning. Furthermore, we are currently busy creating a print design for the Guardian Angel. Most parts have already been ordered and can be soldered together over the working weekend. We are also still busy making a more solid capacitive sensor that can be placed on the rope pump. Another monitor system can be connected to the solar panels we will be installing.

Obviously, plenty of fun projects to work on, and you know, if you yourself have a fun idea for a new project that the WOT can start working on, or what we can give as an assignment to other students as part of a course, let us know!

We hope to see you all during this weekend or another time at the WOT site
