Due to an insufficient number of registrations, this activity moves on to a later date, possibly next year

A dyke reinforcement project that is unique of its kind. Not only because this summer work will start on the reinforcement, which will be entirely electric, making it one of the first emission-free projects within the High Water Protection Programme. But even more so because this is a centuries-old Zuiderzee dyke, which can be seen in the staggered sections of wall that used to have to be maintained by the farmers behind it (a kind of pre-historic crowd funding): it is precisely this story of centuries of water management that we would like to emphasise. Cultural history at its best, illustrative for the Netherlands!
