Water Management & Spatial Planning
Description
On 13 October 2009, the Netherlands Committee for Irrigation and Drainage (NETHCID) is hosting the international symposium Water Management & Spatial Planning. The KIVI NIRIA Water Management Department is a member of ICID, the international parent organisation. In the Netherlands, NETHCID is the executive committee that also maintains international contacts.
This time, the Dienst Landelijk Gebied and the Unie van Waterschappen are taking care of the organisation. The Water Museum in Arnhem is the venue. The theme: how to deal with the relationship between spatial development and the organisation and management of ground and surface water in the outlying area. Speakers from different corners of the world will reflect on the day's theme from the specific context known to them. Based on experiences from various countries, similarities and differences will be identified and discussed. In particular, the symposium will examine interesting contradictions in approach and coordination. Obviously to learn from each other about water collection, storage and drainage with simultaneous quality improvement of space, safety, recreation, nature and or agriculture.
