Water quality on the map in 2025
KNW Water Quality Theme Group organised an energetic brainstorming session: How do we put Water Quality on the Map in 2025? "We have already made many connections and inspired many. But it's not finished yet, water quality needs continued attention." We continue, including Symposium WOK VIII on WFD dilemmas on 10 Dec 2025 - save the date!
WATER QUALITY on the Map - WOK Brainstorming session
KNW, the Water Network for and by professionals, stands for sharing knowledge, experience and strengthening networks. Within the KNW Water Quality Theme Group, the series 'Water Quality on the Map' got the subject higher on the agendas, made connections and inspired many to take action.
But the work is not done yet. Water quality in the Netherlands deserves continued attention. That is why an interactive brainstorming session was organised on Thursday afternoon, 6 February 2025. Together with members and other interested parties, we thought about ways to keep working and contributing to a future with clean and healthy water.

SYMPOSIUM WOK VIII - Water Quality on the Map 2025
The brainstorming session was an inspiring and energetic meeting with a diverse group of experts - from scientists to lawyers and ecologists. We discussed pressing water quality challenges. It is 2 to 12, but many positive things are already happening, such as the WFD impulse programmes and better data models. What needs to be further strengthened includes enforcement and knowledge sharing, and attention to water quality in the Delta Programme.
We will focus on concrete action in 2025. And on 10 December 2025, we will organise an interactive Symposium WOK VIII on WFD dilemmas - save the date!
Together, we will make a difference, and build a future with clean and healthy water.
