On the beautiful evening of 29 May, after a board meeting 'on location', the board of our Department LW KIVI said goodbye to departing board members Jibbe J. Poppen (TAUW Netherlands), Erik Fiktorie (Iv) and Lars Paternotte (ConcepT study association). For which great thanks!

Fortunately, with the arrival last year of Floris Boogaard (Deltares/Hanzehogeschool Groningen ), Jasper Wisman (TAUW Nederland) and Floris-Luc Witjes (ConcepT), together with the board members Maaike Klein Overmeen (BZ Ingenieurs & Managers) and Annelies Straatman (Hogeschool van Amsterdam/Hogeschool van Amsterdam) already present, we are back to strength!

Nice to then talk to each other in the evening about the relevance of the KIVI network, and how we as a department can continue to add value to our profession. Especially at a time when more and more 'supply' comes to us very easily, but also at a time when our field is extremely relevant and topical: the climate is changing, making water management increasingly challenging, combined with increasing pressure on land use. Spot on!

Confirmed was the approach to mainly share the pragmatic side of our work, focus on the application of concrete knowledge, organised in connection with the different types of organisations (knowledge institutes, engineering firms, contractors, governments, educational institutions, ...). And especially by organising small-scale low-threshold activities on location, in the region, throughout the country. And then preferably that you can actually see with your own eyes how something has been, or is being, realised.... And then in a setting where we are 'just' KIVI engineers among ourselves. Doesn't matter where you work, or what position you have there! Senior or junior, manager or specialist, or whatever differences there may be. The engineering profession, with passion for the work, is what binds us together!

Full of courage, therefore, we continue as a (new) board!
