Like many meetings, the Knowledge Day Inspection & Conservation Flood Defences could not take place in physical form this year.
A digital meeting was therefore chosen, the first session of which took place on Thursday 10 September. the morning started with a plenary programme, which kicked off the series of meetings with a presentation by Sandra Brandts on how Burgers' Zoo implements sustainability and circularity in their daily practice. This was followed by Melvin Redeker explaining the parallels between the challenges from mountaineering and the world of water safety and how best to deal with them. In the afternoon, the first workshop on Problem species - plants took place. During this workshop, a study on natural control of Japanese knotweed was first presented. Then an inventory was made of which plant species cause problems at the various water boards and which control methods have been and are successfully applied. The various meetings can be watched back here<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoSEGvCwZ3U&list=PLKAZHri1nLra49usVBu6VkkpAj8dWMG_A>.
