The end of the year is approaching, and we thought it would be good to take a moment to update you on the activities within our professional department!
SAVE THE DATE: 25 January 2023 | Deventer => New Year Drink + Water Nuisance Meeting + General Assembly
To start right away with the most important: we are turning the Christmas drink into a New Year drink, and on Wednesday 25 January, in Deventer. A date to note down in the agenda!
We want to start that afternoon with a substantive workshop on Flooding: what do we learn from it?, organised by Tauw, at their offices in Deventer. We will start this at 15.00, and then continue with a Members' Meeting and New Year drinks in the centre of Deventer, from 17.00 onwards. Exact location etc. will follow, and will also be available on our own webpage on the KIVI site. It has been a while since the last get-together, so we look forward to meeting you all again!
Meetings last period
We have been trying to organise an activity about once a month since the last summer break. The approach of those activities is very diverse in terms of topics and (presentation) format, as well as the location where the activity is held.
We started back in August with a proposal to organise the Dike reinforcement of the historic Stenendijk at Hasselt visit, but because the number of sign-ups was so low, we decided to push it forward to the first half of next year. So that one will return, organised by Waterschap Drents Overijsselse Delta a second chance!
In September, we were able to take to the roof in Amsterdam to see climate adaptation measures up close, in the session Climate adaptation and green roofs in Amsterdam, organised with the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. A great session, right in the middle of the city!
In October, there was a session nav a Drought study in Leeuwarden, which ended up being a digital session. A working form that we do want to use more often in the future, looking for a good combo between both physical and digital. Incidentally, this session was organised by BZ Ingenieurs together with the municipality of Leeuwarden.
The planned session on Flooding: what do we learn from it?, originally planned for November, will now coincide with the New Year reception on 25 January. In it, engineering firm Tauw will take us through a number of lessons from water nuisance studies.
The planned meeting on Nature Based Solutions (was planned together with the Christmas drink), with Henk Nieboer of Ecoshape, has therefore been postponed until a later date next year, also in the first half of the year.
2nd chance! 7 December: For the session Circular living lab with climate adaptation and mitigation will get a second chance, and as early as next month, on 7 December, in Groningen. As KIVI, we are cordially invited for a tour of the circular climate garden, followed by a Barn Talk on the subject. The circular climate test garden focuses on climate adaptation (Building) and climate mitigation (Entrance). The tour starts at 15.00 and lasts 45 minutes. At 16.15, the Barn Talk on Climate Adaptation will then start, and drinks will be served from 17.15.
