Description

W. van den Bos of SDC Verifier has been invited to talk about new developments in simulation and FEM technology.

W. van den Bos teaches at TU Delft, among other universities, and is also founder and co-owner of SDC Verifier. SDC Verifier is used to develop pre and post-prossesor FEM software to support the structural engineer. The lecture will discuss both the latest and future developments of this software and some examples of new simulation software from the practice of partner Femto from Delft.

At TU Delft, W. van den Bos' research includes methods to speed up the design process by using optimisation algorithms in which either the global geometry of the design is adjusted or the properties of the structural elements (plate thickness beam profiles, etc.).

About SDC Verifier software. By simplifying the use of combinations of loads, all required load cases can be easily created and updated. In addition, standard or custom-made checks on all these load cases provide a complete overview already at the start of the process. Thanks to automatic report generation (complete with plots, tables and graphs), all important fail modes such as plate buckling, max stress, fatigue etc. can be calculated for all load scenarios at the start of the design process. When adjusting the design, the calculation report can be updated at the push of a button.
