Description

Lecture evening on "Marine Energy: Current affairs, new developments and future perspective"

Renewable energy is an integral part of the long-term aim to reduce our climates CO2 emissions. The current European target is to source 20% of Europe's energy from renewable sources by 2020. Currently wave and tidal power have (practically) no contribution to this target, whereas the amount of energy present in wave and tidal motion all over the world is enormous. However, there are many challenges to overcome before wave and tidal energy can make a significant contribution to the European target for renewable energy in a profitable manner.

BAM Infraconsult bv has performed various concept studies to commercialise tidal and wave energy and works hard on developing new concepts of wave energy in order to get one step closer to the successful exploitation of the endless energy potential that lies within the oceans and seas all over the world.
